To Our Clients, Colleagues, and Friends:
Our firm’s service mark is a reminder that at ASC we are “Engineering a Better World”. That simple motto means even more for us today than it did when my father founded our firm in 1984.
Many of our professional engineering colleagues find themselves in the midst of a what can only be termed as a fight for survival. I am humbled and gratified by the fact that our firm and its leadership foresaw long ago the economic challenges of the past couple of years to nimbly position ourselves ready for growth once again as we enter 2010. Although a smaller firm, we possess technical muscle and the rare ability to deliver what our clients need by combining our ability to understand a problem but, more importantly, our expert skill at communicating the solution. At ASC there truly are no problems, only answers.
Today our firm has moved into emergent practice areas such as forensic engineering which allows our depth of resources to match our breadth of knowledge. As we grow this aspect of our business it is my expectation that we will emerge within 3 years as a practice leader across the southeastern United States. As testimony to our rapid rise in the discipline of forensic engineering, our firm’s founder D.S. Sax” Saxena, P.E. is a Diplomate Member of the National Academy of Forensic Engineers and ASC today employs 3 of the 24 credentialed Neutral Evaluators as certified by the State of Florida. Our trajectory has been steadily rising in the field of Forensic Engineering and we will continue to grow this aspect of our business.
We have been fortunate to watch our professionals contribute their skills across the globe in places as far away as Angola and a nearby as Canada. For the Angola LNG project in the port town of Soyo, ASC’s engineers provided deep foundations testing expertise over the span of several months to a South Korean foundation contractor on a project managed by a North American construction manager. The scale of this energy project dwarfs even the largest of domestic projects on which the firm has worked. ASC’s contributions on this international project were recognized when it garnered the Outstanding Project Award in 2010 from the Florida Engineering Society. When we say we are “Engineering a Better World” we most certainly mean it.
Our traditional areas of expertise continue to be in geotechnical engineering, materials testing and inspections, threshold inspections, and CEI/transportation inspections. The demand for services in these markets remains challenged with project funding or owner funding being the single-most important factor impeding growth. While we are seeing stabilization in some service sectors, I envision a sustained period of limited growth in these more traditional service areas.
I thank our Clients, Colleagues, and Friends for your sustained trust in our firm. My father asked us as young schoolchildren to measure our success not in the money we make but in the memories we create. Our Clients, Colleagues, and Friends remind us that the many valued relationships we have made over the years continue to offer us a wealth of many cherished memories. We will continue to branch out into other service areas as we look to grow our practice. All the while, we are reminded that in today’s global marketplace ASC continues to deliver for our clients and continues to “Engineer a Better World”.
